ASTRA | 3 TYPES OF MEMBRANE

13/01/2017

Our clients can choose between three different membranes for getting the highest mechanical strength and a longer life cycle of the pump:

Thermoplastic diaphragms offer a high chemical and abrasive resistance as well as longer operative cycles; These materials are ideal as for they can be used in a wide range of applications, which facilitates the choice of the right pump. Diaphragms are available in Keyflex®, Santoprene®, and Polyurethane. Our clients can choose between three different membranes for getting the highest mechanical strength and a longer life cycle of the pump.

Elastomeric diaphragms are blended with rubbers reinforced with nylon mesh to improve the mechanical strength. The most common rubbers are nitrile (NBR) and ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer (EPDM).

PTFE is the fluoro-polymer material with the broadest chemical resistance. Our PTFE diaphragms for ASTRA pumps are manufactured with some special process to be flexible and resistant and are paired with a support: another diaphragm made of thermoplastic rubber to remarkably increase the mechanical strength as well as the lifetime duration.
